About the service

Make public building information easier to verify

NearBuild NZ is a public data browser for Auckland residents and professionals.

Start with what the service can do

We bring source fields, address context and a limited map view together so you can find records that need further checking.

Search public records

Traceable sources

Each detail page keeps the council source link and record time for checking.

Clear boundaries

Partial Beta explains which recent applications are covered and what cannot be inferred.

Discovery first

Search and address watches help with discovery. They do not replace formal notices, legal advice or planning judgement.

Optional analytics and your privacy

If you allow analytics, we use PostHog in the United States to understand visits, clicks and whether core actions succeed. An anonymous browser identifier is stored locally. We do not send your email, typed search text, selected address or authentication tokens in analytics events.

Masked session recordings cover only our homepage, About and Coverage pages. Search fields, results, account and sign-in pages are excluded from recordings. Visit counts reflect consenting browsers and may be reduced by tracking blockers.

You can decline or withdraw through Analytics preferences in the footer. Withdrawing stops future collection; it does not automatically delete earlier data. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals also disable collection.

Current source

Currently connected to Auckland Council

The first version uses the council's recent resource consent application file. The sync service keeps source fields in the database.
